Naoya Nifuji (二藤 尚哉 Nifuji Naoya) is a university student and the younger brother of Hirotaka Nifuji who wants the best for Hirotaka and is genuinely happy when good things happen to him. He works as a barista in a coffee shop that is next to the office building where his brother is working to.

Naoya is a handsome young man with light golden-brownish hair (his natural hair color was blue similar to his brother) that is swept to the left side and dark blue eyes.

Naoya has a cheerful personality who is often portrayed as a cat due to his cat-like smile and he seems to love his work as a barista since having satisfied customers makes him contented.

Hirotaka Nifuji[]
Hirotaka is Naoya's older brother and Naoya cares very deeply for his older brother.
Kō Sakuragi[]
Naoya thought that she was studying hard in the café, but found out she was playing a video game. Naoya just watched her at first, but after Kō won, she caught him watching, apologized, then left the place. Kō left an info paper in the café. Naoya wanted to give it back to her, finding out that coincidentally, they go on the same college. Naoya wanted to be her friend, and she thought that he was referring to a "friend request" on the game, so they became "gaming friends" rather than friends in general. However, the two eventually became friends in real life too, and now they are both happy to play videogames and meet at the arcade with each other.
In the manga and second OVA, they spend time with each other at the movies and arcade, and at the end Kō tells Naoya that she likes him and wants to be his friend forever although Naoya seemingly believed it was a confession and is shown to be slightly disappointed when he finds out she meant friends only.
When Kō got a part-time job, Naoya felt quite the distance between them. When he'd invite her to hang out after college, she'd tell she had work when half of the time, she didn't. Naoya felt down, asking Hirotaka Nifuji for advice and even crying a bit. He even asked advice from his friends, who egged him on, telling that even if the two become a couple, the four would still remain friends.
When Naoya finally caught up with Kō one day, he gathered up the courage to confess to her, and did. She felt immense happiness and said yes. Currently, the two are a couple.
Narumi Momose[]
Narumi is like a big-sister figure to Naoya. When Narumi would go over to Hirotaka Nifuji's house to play video games when they were kids, Naoya would often join in. Naoya is 7 years younger than Hirotaka and Narumi which makes Narumi love him as a little brother. They are shown to care alot for each other.
Etymology[]
- The name Naoya means "further/furthermore, yet, still/more/still more, greater, less" (尚) (nao) and "man, how, what, alas, question mark, ?" (哉) (ya).
- Naoya's surname Nifuji means "two" (二) (ni) and "wisteria" (藤) (fuji).

- Naoya's personality is sometimes similar and compared to a cat.
- Naoya is seen to be bad at playing video games, although Hirotaka Nifuji (Naoya's older brother) is the opposite.
