Trivia[]

  • This episode is based on Volume 1, Chapter 2 and Volume 2, Chapters 8, 9 and 10
  • At the beginning of the episode, Hirotaka is shown pinning Taro to the wall by the elevator as Narumi and Hanako take pictures, using a move known as "Kabe-don". The move, as commonly seen in shojou manga and anime, is usually done by a dominating male who leans in and slams his hands into the wall behind the timid person he is talking to, essentially trapping the person. It is typically done out of jealousy or as a rather aggressive way of expressing their feeling towards that person.
  • Hirotaka and Narumi make references to the song "Melt" by Miku Hatsune by singing a particular line.
    • First, Hirotaka sings "Melt" in the same style while waiting with Narumi.
    • Then, after seeing Taro run off in the rain, they sing the rest of the lyric "Tokete shimaisou"
  • After giving Narumi and Hirotaka his umbrella, Taro mentions that he going to "play the Evangelion Ichiban Kuji" at the convenience store.
    • Ichiban Kuji is a real Japanese lottery system sponsored by figure company Banpresto, where a person buys a ticket at a participating convenience stores, anime shops and game centers for about 500 yen, in an attempt to win exclusive anime figures from the company. Every ticket is considered a winner, as even the lower tier prizes can include exclusive anime themed prizes, such as key chains, business card holders and bandanas. Some of the series featured include Neon Genesis Evangelion as Taro points out, as well as Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon
  • At one point, Hirotaka rejects an offer from Hanako to be paired with Taro in a yaoi fantasy and says he doesn't' want to be the "seme". In Yaoi/BL, the "seme" is the dominating male of the pair.
  • The Christmas themed song, "Winter Wonderland" can be heard in the background when Narumi and Hirotaka take a walk before running into Naoya.
  • After finding out that Naoya is still single, Narumi gives him advice by telling him "Riajuu Bakuhatsu Shiro!" which is the name of a song by Miku Hatsune.
    • In English, the song's title is translated as "Blow Up and Die, Happy People". The song, which is meant to be satirical, focuses its criticism on "riajuu" ("Normies" or people who are happy with their real life outside of the internet), with the singer suggesting that these "normies" should die after having to watch them be happy on the train and at the beach.
  • A jazz version of "Jingle Bells" can be heard in the background when Taro and Hanako have dinner together.
  • The figure that Taro receives as a gift from Hanako is a limited edition version of Akari Akaza from the series YuruYuri.
